Superior Hiking Trail
North Shore of Lake Superior
The weekend of September 17-19, 2004 I set out to backpack the northern-most two sections of the Superior Hiking Trail on Lake Superior in far northeastern Minnesota. I started at Arrowhead Trail and went north to the trail's end at Otter Lake Road near the Canadian border. I anticipated the leaves would have been well on their way to full fall glory by this time, but there was just a dusting of color. Here's a shot of Lake Superior from one of the highest points on the trail. It was a great trip, which I hope to be the first of several to hike the entire length of the trail.
